MRT-3 Guadalupe Station

Missing Accessible Features

There is a general set of standards that people put when stations are labeled as accessible. The uncomfortable truth is, we’re not truly there yet. While certain features are universally implemented, others are universally overlooked. All MRT-3 stations lack tactile paving, LED screens for dynamic information, and other features that would help those with visual, and hearing disabilites.

More about the Station

Guadalupe Station is a unique one since the southbound platform doesn’t actually have a direct exit. It does however have an elevator on both platforms and a footbridge to the northbound entrance / exit. From there, the ramp is quite steep with no railings, but the alternative path leads to a sidewalk. There is also an accessible entrance through the connected mall, but is only open during mall hours. The station meets all of the MRT-3 standards with staff assisted boarding, a waiting zone for PWDs, seniors, and pregnant women, and what seems to be station-wide mandated sign designs.
