MRT-3 GMA Kamuning Station

Missing Accessible Features

There is a general set of standards that people put when stations are labeled as accessible. The uncomfortable truth is, we’re not truly there yet. While certain features are universally implemented, others are universally overlooked. All MRT-3 stations lack tactile paving, LED screens for dynamic information, and other features that would help those with visual, and hearing disabilites.

More about the Station

This stations is seated right next to the GMA Network Center building. It is so close that if you peer through the window, you can see the their logo staring back at you. While their station does meet the MRT-3 standards of working elevators with accompanying ramps in both the entrances/exits of the station, it is still situated in the middle of a bustling highway. Continuity is difficult to give as well since certain ramps on the way to the elevator aren’t compliant with accessibility standards like being too steep. One exit is however, located next to a sidewalk wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, so it’s more so in the middle.
