MRT-3 Ortigas Station

Missing Accessible Features

There is a general set of standards that people put when stations are labeled as accessible. The uncomfortable truth is, we’re not truly there yet. While certain features are universally implemented, others are universally overlooked. All MRT-3 stations lack tactile paving, LED screens for dynamic information, and other features that would help those with visual, and hearing disabilites.

More about the Station

Ortigas Station is located at the heart of Mandaluyong and is a 4 minute walk away from SM Megamall. There is only a single elevator in this station that takes you to the ground floor, the footbridge, and the station respectively. If you’re intending to enter or exit through the northbound entrance, the stairs are your only option. Continuity is a big concern in this station since the southbound entrance / exit ramp to the sidewalk is filled with bumps. The station itself has way finding maps, which only 2 stations in the MRT-3 line do. It’s also worth mentioning that the designated waiting zone is only present in the northbound platform.
