MRT-3 Shaw Blvd Station

Missing Accessible Features

There is a general set of standards that people put when stations are labeled as accessible. The uncomfortable truth is, we’re not truly there yet. While certain features are universally implemented, others are universally overlooked. All MRT-3 stations lack tactile paving, LED screens for dynamic information, and other features that would help those with visual, and hearing disabilites.

More about the Station

Shaw Boulevard Station is by far the most number of malls a station is connected to, with that number being at 4. from the platforms are two elevators that lead into one of the exits and into an elevator next to Shangri-la Plaza, and another elevator next to Starmall. These both lead into ramps that transition into one of the safer sidewalks for wheelchair-bound people. The station also has the standard accessibility features in the MRT-3 line like designated waiting zones on one end of both platforms, staff that are ready to assist you in boarding, high-contrast signs. The station could definitely use a map though, and clear indication that there are two exits that lead to entirely different malls.
