MRT-3 Boni Station

Missing Accessible Features

There is a general set of standards that people put when stations are labeled as accessible. The uncomfortable truth is, we’re not truly there yet. While certain features are universally implemented, others are universally overlooked. All MRT-3 stations lack tactile paving, LED screens for dynamic information, and other features that would help those with visual, and hearing disabilites.

More about the Station

Boni Station has a unique platform system where the north and southbound share one platform. There are designated waiting zones on both ends as well as staff assistance, but there are certain points where the available space might be too narrow for a wheelchair dependent person. There is an elevator that leads into the second floor, which is the main station, and on the right side of the turnstile exit, there’s an elevator that leads into the station entrance / exit. Boni station has food stalls that are located near the other exits, but they’re inaccessible for wheelchair dependent people since there are no ramps leading to that exit. The station has the MRT-3 standard high-contrast signage colors, staff that are equipped to assist you in boarding, and a police assistance desk in case you have any questions.
